Community Development Financial Institution Assistance Program
Community Development Financial Institutions (“CDFI”) provide micro-loans to businesses who often do not qualify for bank loans as well as one-on-one counseling and business development assistance to facilitate credit-readiness. Every year these CDFI’s help thousands of minority and women-owned business enterprises survive and flourish in New York State.
Since 1997 ESD has awarded $10,366,193 in grants to federally-certified Community Development Financial Institutions (“CDFI”) to assist in their efforts to develop minority and women-owned business enterprises. This year ESD awarded $1,525,000 in grants to 23 CDFI’s across New York State. The organizations use these grant funds expressly to strengthen the lending and technical assistance services they provide to minority and women business entrepreneurs.
